Here is a town which may well surprise you. Within its walls it retains traces of the 400-year reign of the Princes of Wurttemberg. Its slightly Germanic air, its colours, its half-timbered houses and its fine traditions all contribute to its charm.
However, Montbéliard is far from being stuck in a glorious past. This is a lively, vibrant town, right at home in the 21st century.

It can be difficult to avoid the famous lion logo in the Montbéliard urban area.
To begin with there are the production sites, based here since 1912, where more than 12,000 people work to manufacture 1800 vehicles per day! A proud industrial and historical monument for the whole region, which can also be discovered at the Musée de l’aventure Peugeot (Peugeot Adventure Museum). Whether you’re interested in racing or family cars, utility vehicles or convertibles featuring retro styling, incredible record-holding racing cars, legendary or more mundane vehicles and even stars of the silver screen, you’ll find it all here! |

With a diameter of 142m and a capacity of 12,000 people, this is one of the largest known Gallo-Roman theatres in France.
Built during the first and second centuries, backing onto a partially excavated hill, it was located opposite a temple. Back then, this religious site was a popular location for pilgrimages and formed the backdrop for the theatre stage.
It is free to visit the site every afternoon during the summer, except Tuesdays.

Here is the latest arrival on the Montbéliard region’s gastronomic scene!
The former public baths building (known in French as Les Bains-Douches) has had a major facelift and has today been transformed into an outstanding restaurant with an attractive terrace/patio. In the kitchen we find Olivier Prevôt-Carmes, the Michelin Star rated Chef from the Saint-Martin. With different suggestions and long-standing favourite dishes every day according to what’s in season, this is the perfect place for an affordable lunch or dinner treat (with the weekday menu priced at €20). |

The “damassine” is a delicious variety of plum, but also the name of an ambitious environmental project in the Montbéliard region: the Centre for Orchards, the Landscape and Energy (La Maison des Vergers, du Paysage et de L’énergie).
Full of life, this project is devoted to the environment, to the open air and to Mother Nature. Generous Mother Nature who gives visitors a chance here to harvest, cook, taste and even take away a number of delicious products. Cookery classes available (17.06, 07.07 and 21.07) in addition to a farmers’ market (June 30), in Vandoncourt.
